About this position
Working within the mandated protocols, the Employment Coordinator will be required to fulfill the following core duties:
Program Coordination
• Recruit, interview, train and support 40-50 women twice a year to participate in and complete the entrepreneurship program.
• Develop and co-facilitate preparatory workshops on professional communications; customer service, confrontation and conflict resolution; goal setting and time management; self-care and mental wellness; budgeting skills; and credit and debt management.
• Plan and co-ordinate monthly entrepreneurship support workshops for graduates
• Liaise and build collaborative relationships with the program Co-Coordinator, program partners, program evaluators, other E Fry program staff, and relevant external service providers.
• Coordinate monthly meetings and action items with program partners and evaluators.
• Develop, follow and adjust approved annual work plans in consultation with Program Manager.
• Work with correctional institutions to support women interested in pursuing self-employment upon release.
Ongoing & Post-Program Participant Support
• Facilitate homework club for program participants.
• Facilitate “Chill and Chat” sessions for information sharing and support from cohort alumni.
• Identify and organize guest speakers to address gaps and enhance participant learning.
• Conduct one-on-one phone calls with participants to receive updates on their businesses and record progress.
• Identify and provide referrals to resources to current and former program participants as needed.
Community Outreach & Engagement
• Position this program within the larger entrepreneurship ecosystem by way of developing partnerships, sharing information, and staying on top of issues.
• Identify and build formal and informal partnerships and networks with local community agencies, employment centres, and relevant service providers.
• Partner with Communications & Fundraising Coordinator to market program effectively through print and online channels including social media.
• Partner with Communications & Fundraising Coordinator to develop and distribute promotional materials as well as monthly program newsletter in print and/or online formats.
• Promote program by participating in relevant community events and offering in person and/or online presentations/information sessions as required.
Program Administration
• Maintain participant files and correspondence according to agency and funder requirements and guidelines.
• Enter program and participant data accurately and completely utilizing the agency’s existing data management system(s).
• Maintain program statistics and other reporting data as required by program manager, partners and funders including participant testimonials and success stories.
• Coordinate and track provision of program supplies with participants and partners.
• Write progress and completion reports as required.
• Coordinate logistics of in person and/or online program sessions including space booking, food, transportation, technology needs etc.
Other
• Participate on internal and external committees, sharing information, identifying goals and resolving problems.
• Participate in on going professional development and assist in the orientation and training of new staff, students, peers and volunteers.
• Attend all agency wide and team meetings to stay current with agency plans, learn about different programs, meet, and share information with colleagues.
• Respond to telephones enquiries and communicated information.
• Maintain the confidentiality and security of client and agency related information.
• Comply with agency Health & Safety plan.
• Comply with agency policies and procedures.
• Apply gender-responsive, anti-racist and anti-oppressive approaches to work.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Skills
• Degree or diploma in social work, community/social services or combination of education and experience.
• 2-4 years of direct service experience with employment and entrepreneurship programs.
• Experience working with women from diverse ethno-cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Strong facilitation skills and client engagement experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of group programming principles.
• Commitment to a trauma-informed, feminist, anti-racist, anti-oppression and harm reduction based practice.
• Knowledge of the criminal justice system, specifically pertaining to women.
• Demonstrate good decision-making and problem solving skills using proper communication channels.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Highly motivated self-starter and initiative taker.
• Advanced skills utilizing Microsoft Office software, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Bilingual in French and/or any other language is an asset.
• Excellent interpersonal, relationship management, oral, written communication skills and organizational skills required.
