About the It Manager:
Hi, I’m Kathleen, the People Operations Manager here at Venture for Canada (VFC). I’ll be leading the recruitment for this new opening. At VFC, the IT Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization's IT infrastructure, data security, and governance. This role ensures that technology supports the organization's mission of delivering programming efficiently and securely. The IT Manager will develop IT policies, maintain IT tools, manage cybersecurity risks, and support staff with technology training and compliance.
Role Responsibilities

Organizational IT
-
Develop, implement, and maintain IT policy and best practice guides for the organization
-
Identify application issues, propose solutions, and implement fixes.

Manage relationships with software providers where needed.

Analyze existing technical processes used by VFC teams to ensure they are right sized, user friendly, efficient, designed to support existing needs, and ensure effective results.

Cybersecurity
-
Lead the development and implementation of VFC’s cybersecurity strategy.

Defend against external cyber threats and manage vulnerabilities in VFCs systems.

Initiate and evaluate robust and consistent staff training to keep cybersecurity top of mind.

Be aware of emerging threats, behaviours and technologies to continuously refine and adapt the cybersecurity strategy, ensuring robust protection against evolving risks.

Data Governance

Responsible for information governance, including privacy, retention, and compliance issues.

Responsible for data security and risk management including data loss prevention, and security policies.

Manage data permissions in systems and business applications ensuring that sensitive data is protected

Responsible for compliance, privacy, and adherence to regulations to protect user/customer/staff data.

Staff Support & Training
-
Support the IT Support & CRM Coordinator in providing hands-on IT support efficiently across the organization
-
Ensure support for staff on new technologies or systems to ensure high levels of digital literacy and effective use of IT resources.

Identify appropriate onboarding training for new staff, new managers and leadership to ensure complaints with data, IT and cybersecurity best practices and policies.

Job Requirements:
-
Education in IT, computer science, cybersecurity or related fields preferred.
-
3+ years of experience in IT management, cybersecurity, or data governance roles
-
Proficiency with SaaS tools, cloud-based systems, and data security best practices.

Experience with HubSpot and/or Zapier is an asset.

Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, software management, and system reliability.
-
Extensive knowledge in cyber risk management frameworks, assessments, and providing recommendations to reduce or eliminate identified risks and a track record of driving security solutions.

Experience with data governance, reporting, and compliance.

Strong communication and leadership skills to provide direction to technical and non-technical personnel.
-
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
-
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
-
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
-
Experience working in a nonprofit or education-focused organization is an asset.

Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
