About this position

On behalf of QomQem Coastal Connections, in partnership with Peers Victoria Resources Society, we are seeking a dedicated and visionary leader to join their expanding team as either an Associate Director or Executive Director, based on qualifications and experience. This role offers two potential pathways:

  • Associate Director: Collaborate closely with the part-time Director of QomQem Coastal Connections in a mentorship relationship for a minimum of one year, while working alongside the Executive Director of Peers Victoria.
  • Executive Director: Take on full leadership of the organization, reporting directly to the Board of Directors, with three to six months of mentorship and transition support from the outgoing Director.

As the leader of QomQem Coastal Connections, you will oversee a growing Indigenous-led organization delivering harm reduction, housing, and health care services to Indigenous individuals in Lekwungen territories. Working in close collaboration with Peers Victoria, you will manage programs with approximately $1 million in revenue, supporting 8 full-time program staff, 12 part-time peer support workers and contractors.  The person in this role will also be expected to be familiar with approximately $3 million in revenue for Peers Victoria, as well as their programs and services should there be a need for coverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaboratively manage day-to-day program delivery and facilities
  • Supervise and support staff, contractors, and volunteers that fosters a team-oriented, peer-based, and collaborative organizational culture
  • Enhance the profile of QomQem Coastal Connections within the community
  • Advocate for and implement decolonial practices in housing, health, and social services
  • Build and sustain partnerships with local Indigenous nations and community organizations
  • Secure and maintain organizational revenue
  • Oversee budgets and ensure compliance with funder expectations
  • Uphold values-driven and strategic operations and policies

About You

  • A postgraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., MSW, MA, MPA) or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of management and Indigenous leadership experience
  • Exceptional communication and leadership abilities with proven ability to build relationships with Indigenous communities and nations
  • Knowledge of Indigenous harm reduction, decolonial frameworks, and peer-led services
  • Familiarity with health and social services delivery, particularly in non-profit sectors
  • Strong fundraising and proposal-writing skills
  • Experience managing budgets, reporting to Boards of Directors, and working with government and funders

Peers Victoria Resources Society offers harm reduction, advocacy, education, and outreach services for current and former sex workers. Together, they champion non-hierarchical, collaborative approaches to decolonial and social justice work.
