Location:             Toronto, Yonge & Eglinton (Hybrid Work: 3 days in office)

The Opportunity

The Director, Talent Management will play a pivotal role in creating a high-performing, adaptable and forward-thinking organization through development and execution of an integrated and comprehensive approach to key talent initiatives. This role reports to the Vice President, People & Culture and is a member of the People & Culture (P&C) Leadership Team and TVO’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

The successful candidate will drive strategic initiatives, foster innovation, and ensure efficient team operations to support an engaged workforce through the full employee lifecycle. This role is a blend of strategic and hands-on. We are seeking a self-starter, who will develop a team and structure to shape the Talent Management landscape at TVO.

How you will make an impact

Talent Management Strategy & Execution:

  • Talent Management Strategies: Create and implement strategies using a deep understanding of the organization to inform talent priorities and ensure an integrated approach across all deliverables.
  • Learning & Development: Drive a culture of continuous learning, identify capability gaps, designs and leads the implementation of comprehensive learning opportunities for employees to grow and develop their careers.
  • Leadership Development: Develop people leaders’ capability to lead, manage and coach their teams and foster cross-functional team collaboration.
  • Performance Management: Oversee performance management program and capability building and align individual performance with organizational priorities.
  • Talent Identification & Succession Planning: Develops and implements strategies to identify, develop, and maintain a robust pipeline of talent for key leadership and critical roles.
  • Employee Engagement & Experience: Implement our employee engagement survey and drive initiatives focused on employee retention and recognition.
  • Talent Acquisition: Build our employer brand to attract diverse talent and oversee our recruitment process, including sourcing, interviewing, and selection.
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI): Integrate DEI principles into all talent management strategies and practices to build a diverse and inclusive workforce.
  • Reports and Analytics: Oversee development of reports and dashboards to drive more data-informed decisions and measure impact of our efforts and recommends strategic solutions to address trends and issues.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Team Leadership: Manage a team responsible for learning, organizational development, and talent acquisition. Provides leadership and supervision of team through effective coaching that results in operational excellence.
  • Thought Leadership: Provide thought leadership and guidance within the People & Culture team and the organization through expert counsel and recommendations.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors, negotiates contracts and ensures vendors deliver quality services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will bring to TVO

  • 7-10 years of management experience in design and execution of integrated Talent Management strategies aligned with organizational goals
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field (eg: Organizational Development, Human Resources) or equivalent experience.
  • Designations such as CHRP, CTDP are preferred and an asset.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Partners effectively across multiple functions and experience coaching senior stakeholders.
  •  Experience analyzing data and trends to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  •  Proven history of success in leading change and influencing others.
  • Motivated to pursue new and alternative strategies along with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Experience working in a multi-unionized environment and/or public sector an asset.
  • Self-starter with proven ability to pivot between strategic and hands-on work.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
