Operations Manager
For 37 years, A-Way Express has been more than a courier service—they are a lifeline for individuals with mental health and substance use challenges. As a social enterprise funded by Ontario Health, they deliver not only packages across Toronto but also hope, opportunity, and purpose. They also offer a supportive work environment, training, and employment services for people with lived experience. It is within this context that A-Way Express invites nominations and applications for the role of Operations Manager, a position that will have an indelible impact on the future of the organization.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Operations Manager will oversee A-Way’s commercial operations, ensuring excellence in customer service, dispatch, business development, and more. They’ll be the driving force behind meeting sales, customer satisfaction, and retention targets. Their leadership will extend to staff recruitment, training, and performance reviews for approximately 25 permanent part-time and casual employees, and building a collaborative team culture. The Operations Manager will navigate the rewarding challenge of balancing employee recovery goals with business needs while ensuring A-Way's operations remain efficient and impactful.
Qualifications

While all candidates are encouraged to apply and, in so doing, share how they see themselves adding value to A-Way Express’s environment, the following credentials and/or experiences are seen as possible markers of the candidates most likely to realize success in the role: A) several years working in progressively senior roles related to operations and administration, including experience managing casual or part-time employees; B) relevant industry experience in customer service/sales, logistics or courier, social enterprise, or mental health; C) experience in achieving sales targets and building strong customer relationships to enhance revenue growth; D) experience working within a business plan framework, aligning team efforts with strategic priorities; E) experience in managing a budget, setting measurable goals, and creating tools to track progress toward objectives; F) the ability to identify and implement best practices and creative solutions for new or evolving challenges in an outcome-oriented manner, and; G) knowledge of mental health and substance use issues, and inclusive approach to leadership.
Compensation
A-Way Express provides a competitive compensation package (approximately $80,000) with benefits including vacation.
