Position Overview:

 As OAITH's Communications Coordinator, you will have an opportunity to be involved in a number of campaigns, training initiatives, research and policy projects, prevention and public awareness efforts that form the foundation of our work and support our members.  If this sounds exciting and you believe you can bring your energy and passion then we want to learn more about you! 

This is an hybrid position with most of your time spent remotely in your own office.  Travel to the GTA for in person events and meetings will be required.       

Communication: 

  • Copy editing and formatting written materials developed by OAITH staff;

  • Develop social media content and an editorial calander, manage social media channels, ad spends and digital communications through a social media scheduler and organic monitoring;

  • Engage with our audience and keep the team apprised of any issues and opportunities;

  • Develop promotional material about OAITH’s services and member benefit programs;

  • Develop content or work with graphic designers, collaborate with colleagues and members, as required to ensure content is relevant

  • Monitor and produce content for the digital newsletter, job alerts, news monitoring; 

  • Liaises with the media as needed, assist in the development of media releases as requested and maintains a current database of media contacts;

  • Steward and maintain OAITH brand integrity and visual identities;

  • Work with graphic designers, marketing specialists and other related vendors as it relates to OAITH’s project work that’s assigned.    

  • Update content, respond to inquiries and monitor analytics for OAITH’s web assets (oaith.ca, mulberryfinder.ca, wrappedincourage.ca, oaith.traininghub.ca);

  • Liaises between website developers and OAITH staff on the development of a new website

  • Attend, document (photo/video) and provide support at public events with Executive Director and/or Board Members and attend other meetings/events as assigned;

  • Develop and nurture OAITH partnerships

Administration

  • Ensure member, media, partner and stakeholder contact information is up to date 

  • Collaborate with the Learning and Resource Coordinator on projects needs

  • Extract analytics as needed for reporting  

  • Coordination with vendors on payments and invoices 

  • Keep OAITH data records up to date as required  

  • Coordinate the registration of in person and online events

  • Coordinate the scheduling, travel and reimbursement for board meetings and project meetings

  • Provide technical support and assistance for online training, webinars and meetings 

  • Distribution of information through email, digital campaigns and by mail as required 

  • Create and keep up to date organizational branded templates 

  • Support to the Executive Director as required 

Skills and Qualifications:

What Do We Require? 

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in communications, marketing, administration or journalism and 3-5 years related work experience 

  • Advanced verbal and written English communication skills to edit dense documents focused on violence and trauma

  • Experience, understanding and ability to analyze metrics and analytic reports from our social media channels, websites and other related software tools 

  • Experience in simplifying and adapting complex ideas to effectively communicate between technical and non-technical audiences 

  • Advanced time management skills and able to work under pressure to meet timelines

  • Demonstrated experience to multi-task, coordinate and prioritize multiple requests from co-workers at the same time. 

  • Ability to motivate, problem-solve and deal with complex issues with sensitivity and respect.

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing various social media platforms (Linked IN, IG, FB, X, TikTok)

  • Familiarity with word press content management, web page layout/creation, and web platform development software 

  • Graphic and multimedia development and video editing tools familiarity   

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office application including excel and familiarity with Google Docs

  • Familiarity and comfortable working and learning various SaaS and AI platforms/solutions for workplace functionality and streamlining.  

  • Access to your own vehicle is required.

What Are Key Assets?

  • Knowledge and experience relating to public awareness, public education and campaigns relating to gender-based violence

  • Experience working in a provincial organization, government relations, advocacy based setting 

  • Ability to speak and write in both English and French   

What We Offer 

  • Hybrid workplace with majority time worked remotely with in-person events and meeting requirements on occasion   

  • Travel and hotel costs are reimbursed to attend in person meetings and events. These are typically in Toronto but can be outside of the GTA or out of province.   

  • Eligibility for health benefits and employer matched RRSP’s 

  • 47,000.00-55,000.00 based on a 32 hour work week.  Additional hours required during peak times (events and project timelines)
