About this position

Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time with possibility to lead to full-time based on grant funding
Hours: 1,200 hours annually (approximately 20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling)
Compensation: $25-30/hour
Location: Work from home, Revelstoke, BC. Must reside in Revelstoke as local outreach is required.
Start Date: Nov 1, 2024

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Outreach: Develop and implement community education programs, including door-to-door campaigns, media releases, school visits, workshops, events, and participation in local events such as attending the Saturday Farmers Markets during the summer/fall.
  • Program Management: Oversee the Gleaning Coordinator, coordinate with local agencies, and manage the RBAS social media platforms.
  • Event Management: Manage and grow RBAS yearly events: the Burger Challenge and Bear Awareness Day and the Kokanee Fish Fest in partnership with WildSight.
  • Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to support various RBAS initiatives.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with municipal and regional authorities, including the City of Revelstoke, Columbia Shuswap Regional District, BC Conservation Officers, and other relevant agencies.
  • Reporting and Administration: Prepare regular reports for the Board of Directors, manage the society’s budget, and ensure compliance with provincial regulations.
  • Equipment Management: Maintain and store RBAS equipment, including a farmer’s market booth.
  • Grant Writing and Fundraising: Identify and apply for funding opportunities to support RBAS activities.

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education, or equivalent experience and skills.
  • Proven experience in program management, community outreach, or a related field.
  • ​​Strong leadership and strategic planning skills, with a track record of achieving organizational goals.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Experience with fund development, including grant writing and donor management.
  • Knowledge of wildlife management, particularly bear behaviour, is an asset.
  • Proficiency with digital platforms, including social media, is an asset.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit management and working with a board, is an asset.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and vehicle.
