Senior Manager, Inclusive Employment
United Way Greater Toronto is looking for an experienced Senior Manager, Inclusive Employment to join our team at our Toronto office.
Reporting to the Director, Community Initiatives and Partnerships, the Senior Manager, Inclusive Employment is responsible for the overall responsibility for the success of United Way Greater Toronto’s inclusive employment approach including a portfolio of investments that result in improved economic participation and quality of life for people who face multiple barriers to employment in Peel, Toronto and York Region.
What you’ll do:
- Provide overall direction and management for inclusive employment portfolio (community benefits, social enterprise and population-specific approach such as youth and newcomers as well as relevant neighbourhood-specific initiatives) to ensure that investments are in line with Theories of Change and Strategic Plans
- Oversee all aspects of the inclusive employment portfolio administration: ensuring required reports are completed, developing and adhering to appropriate policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate documentation is in place, including legal agreements, and maintaining paper and electronic filing systems
- Provide leadership, motivation, coaching and feedback to the inclusive employment team and agency portfolio as appropriate (ie. through relevant capacity building activities) to ensure they carry out their responsibilities in a timely manner and meet the goals of the inclusive employment portfolio
- Manage the inclusive employment budget(s) to ensure that funding decisions are carried out and that all expenditures fall within the approved budget
- Determine changes to the inclusive employment funding portfolios based on an analysis of outcomes/results
- Work with the Director, Community Initiatives & Partnerships, to implement any changes to further integrate aspects of the inclusive employment portfolio in alignment with CI Refresh (including any legacy initiatives (such as the Youth Success Strategy)
- Work with the Community Investment & Development Senior Management team of to implement and monitor the Community Investment strategic plan, business plan and annual department workplan
- Work with Research, Public Policy & Evaluation and Public Affairs teams to design and implement any evaluation & monitoring systems and inform United Way’s research and policy work on inclusive employment and financial security/empowerment
- Work with Donor Relations & Marketing to support donor stewardship & engagement needs
- Ensure funders receive timely report and applications
- Provide leadership and systems thinking around all or some of the following: inclusive employment, demand-driven employment as well as workforce development strategies, labour market planning and analysis, community benefits, financial security/empowerment, and social enterprise working closely with strategic partners and internal colleagues
- Represent UWGT at any appropriate local, regional and, national, tables
What you’ll need to be successful:
- 5-10 years’ experience in managing partnerships and/or collaborations in the non-profit sector
- Experience managing employment related programming for people who face multiple barriers
- Experience or knowledge of fund development and fund/donor stewardship
- People manager with proven experience managing a team of direct reports
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office
- In-depth understanding of capacity building and evaluation processes
- Strong understanding of the human service sector in the region
- Proven project management skills (including projects involving multiple stakeholders)
- Highly developed analytical skills with ability to conduct research and assess new opportunities, and use independent judgement to problem solve
- Ability to influence, negotiate and manage contentious issues to resolution
- Ability to coordinate complex projects and develop plans for team activity and strategy
- Demonstrated ability to effectively forge, manage and maintain long-standing constituent relationships
- Proven ability to take initiative and carry projects to completion with minimum supervision
- Strong communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal), including report writing
- Willingness to actively lead the implementation of the organizational Reconciliation and Equity Plan through participation in learning opportunities and anti-oppressive, and anti-racist learnings into action internally and externally
- Post-secondary education in business management, social services, policy and research, or a related field, or equivalent work-related experience preferred
