Fund Development and Major Gifts Lead
Full time | Hybrid | Travel required within York Region & South Simcoe
Position Overview:
Reporting to Vice President, Philanthropy & Communications, you will be responsible for developing and executing fundraising strategies that drive revenue growth for CHATS. Your primary focus will be on major gifts, corporate sponsorships, planned giving, grant writing, and foundation cultivation, ensuring the organization meets its financial goals to sustain and expand essential services for older adults. You will play a key role in donor stewardship, fundraising event support, and building strong community partnerships. You will collaborate closely with senior staff and board members to ensure the success of fundraising efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fundraising Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, focusing on major gifts, corporate sponsorships, planned giving, grants, and foundation cultivation.
- Major Gift Program Management: Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors and prospects, ensuring a robust pipeline of support.
- Grant Writing & Foundation Relations: Research, write, and submit grant proposals to support CHATS’ services. Cultivate relationships with foundations to secure ongoing funding.
- Corporate Partnerships & Sponsorships: Identify and secure corporate sponsorships for key events and initiatives, building long-term partnerships with businesses and organizations.
- Planned Giving Program: Develop and manage a planned giving program to secure future financial support for CHATS.
- Donor Stewardship: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential donors, providing exceptional stewardship and ensuring ongoing engagement.
- Fundraising Event Support: Assist with the planning and execution of fundraising events, ensuring successful outcomes and strong donor relationships.
- Community Partnerships: Build and maintain relationships with key community organizations, partners, and stakeholders to support fundraising efforts and expand CHATS’ reach.
- Financial Goals & Reporting: Track and report on fundraising progress, ensuring revenue targets are met and providing regular updates to leadership.
- Collaboration with Leadership: Work closely with the leadership team and Board members to develop strategies, initiatives, and goals for fundraising success.
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Social Services, Fundraising, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or grant writing in the nonprofit sector.
- Proven ability to identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations.
- Strong grant writing skills with a track record of securing funding from various sources (major gifts, foundations, government, and private donors).
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for donor engagement and stewardship.
- Experience with donor database management (e.g., Raiser’s Edge).
- Proficiency in Foundation Search, Grant Connect, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft SharePoint.
- Skilled in developing and managing donor stewardship programs to enhance retention and engagement.
- Strategic thinker with proven ability to execute fundraising initiatives with measurable results.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Experience in project management and event planning.
- Comfortable working with senior executives, board members, and volunteers to drive fundraising success.
- Knowledge of the philanthropic landscape in Ontario, York Region, and South Simcoe.
- Willingness to travel as needed, with a valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Fluency in both official languages (English or French), or other language(s) an asset.

Working Conditions:
- Work Hours: Regular business hours 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with occasional evening/weekend work for events and donor meetings.
- Travel: Regular travel within York Region and South Simcoe for donor visits and community engagement.
- Work Environment: Hybrid work environment (combination of remote and in-office work).=
