OASW is the voice of the social work profession in Ontario and our mission is to mobilize mental health and wellbeing across Ontario. We are actively seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to assume the role of Data and Research Analyst. In this position, you will engage in qualitative and quantitative research to advance the mission, vision and policy priorities of the Association. Your responsibilities will include leading and organizing projects related to data, evaluation, and research to meet organizational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Engage in qualitative and quantitative research to advance the mission, vision and policy priorities of the Association.
  • Organize and obtain data that informs decision-making and planning for programs and activities.
  • Identify trends and patterns in the data.
  • Showcase and visualize data in different and innovative ways to tell compelling stories and narratives.
  • Support the development and tracking of the annual business plan.
  • Identify and report on the Association’s equity data and journey in a responsible, inclusive, and respectful manner.
  • Collaborate across portfolios and teams to determine and implement tracking of data and metrics to measure success and impact.
  • Determine requirements and deliver data-driven recommendations and reports. 
  • Articulate data-driven changes to process, products, services, software, and hardware to improve efficiencies and add value.
  • Research and apply for awards, research conferences, and other opportunities to raise the visibility of the Association’s work to others.
  • Contribute to the Association’s various programs, projects, and services by offering insight from a data and evaluation perspective.
Qualifications
  • Experience conducting research in social policy areas such as health care, social services, government, or education.
  • Understanding of data privacy and security standards.
  • Experience in survey design and implementation.
  • Critical thinking and ethical data interpretation.
  • Commitment to continuous learning in data science and equity research.
  • Strong analytical skills as demonstrated in a similar position over a minimum of 2 years.
  • Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Excellent research management skills
  • Excellent understanding of relational databases and objects for extracting, preparing, and transforming data.
  • Proven collaboration skills and excellent communication skills; ability to translate complex technical information to management and end-users.
  • Firm understanding of how data can and should be used to support equity deserving groups in public policy development. This includes understanding how data has been used in the past and currently to disadvantage and discriminate against different communities and best practices to ensure historically oppressed voices are heard.
  • Strong understanding of anti-Black racism, anti-oppression, and intersectionality when it comes to analyzing and reporting data.
  • Understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action and its relation to data and evaluation.
  • Proficiency in using membership databases, such as IMIS, would be considered an asset.
Reports to: Director, Policy & Stakeholder Relations

Annual Salary: $80,000
