5 CSR departments you didn’t know existed and how to apply

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) isn’t a nice to have anymore, it’s now an expectation that organizations consider their place in the world. The role of business is quite different than it was even a decade ago. A quick search of most corporate websites will now turn up a CSR page. Granted, some businesses take these responsibilities more serious than others, but most organizations now have some form of CSR embedded in their business, including: a distinct CSR department, a corporate foundation, a distribution of CSR responsibilities amongst multiple roles, or a skills based volunteering program, to name a few. Finding these kinds of meaningful jobs is getting easier, but it can still take a little hunting. Here we’ve tracked down 5 CSR departments and where they post their job openings.

Cirque Du Soleil

Cirque du Soleil strives to be a responsible global citizen with a view to sustainable development by conducting itself in a way that shows respect for employees, its customers, the environment and local laws and cultures.

The Home Depot

The Home Depot Canada Foundation is committed to supporting initiatives that help put an end to youth homelessness in Canada. The foundation is investing $10 million to support initiatives that ensure more homeless youth have access to safe and supportive housing.

Tim Hortons

Tim Horton Children’s Foundation, the CSR initiative of one of Canada’s most iconic brands, develops programs designed to change the way young people from economically disadvantaged homes think about themselves and the opportunities that exist for them.

All of the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation jobs are available on a job board dedicated to sourcing and retaining creative, child-centered team members.

McDonald’s

Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto provides a “home away from home” for seriously ill children and their families to heal better together. Their vision is to be a leader in providing a family-focused environment and innovative support services to seriously ill children and their families.
