About this position

The Online Marketing and Communications Officer is responsible for working with all aspects of the organization’s online communications efforts and executing the national digital strategy. This role manages the national website and intranet, supports chapter microsite implementation and training, builds peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns, launches monthly e-communications and campaign toolkits, develops and oversees the national social media strategy and serves as liaison for information management services with IT/digital vendors.
 

This position reports to the Director, Marketing & Communications and works closely with the Marketing and Communications Officer and Marketing and Communications Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and implement national digital strategy to support and reinforce the Make-A-Wish® brand. This includes responsibility of: websites, social media vehicles, blog, campaign pages and e-communication tools.
  • Ensure the smooth functioning of Make-A-Wish’s online infrastructure, including: websites, e-newsletters, intranet, list management,  social media channels, etc. (includes web support and troubleshooting with IT vendors as required).
  • Support day-to-day tactical needs related to the online communications programs, website/microsites, campaigns, social media vehicles and resources.
  • Manage makeawish.ca (English and French) and all content; provide technical support to chapters on microsites as required.
  • Design and produce online campaign collateral to promote the brand and fulfil digital marketing needs, including: e-newsletters, e-signatures, event pages, web pages, web banners, videos, e-cards, photo galleries, interactive presentations, public service ads, etc.
  • Report and analyze metrics related to online marketing and fundraising initiatives and social media vehicles, (e.g. e-blasts, social media, website traffic, etc.), including click-through, bounce and open rates, conversations and web analytics.
  • Prepare training aids, handouts and presentation materials to improve web and IT effectiveness amongst staff and chapters.
  • Work closely with external IT providers to resolve technical issues and provide training and technical support internally.
  • Manage other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education or training (university degree or college diploma in marketing, public relations or a related field).
  • Three+ years experience in the field of communications, public relations and/or online marketing.
  • Experience in computer information systems, web content management and internet & intranet structure is essential.
  • Proficiency in software applications, network design and administration. Candidate must know HTML, CMS systems such as Drupal and WordPress, plug-ins, site navigation and online security protocols. CSS knowledge an asset.
  • Graphics design skills, knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and e-newsletter software such as Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.
  • Interactive media experience with creation of videos, e-newsletters, digital photo projects and use of social media platforms.  
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Outstanding research and analytical skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills - French an asset.
