POSITION SUMMARY:
CivicAction is seeking a full-time Project Officer for a one year contract (with possibility of extension) to support the execution of CivicAction’s Escalator: Jobs for Youth Facing Barriers initiative, and other initiatives as required. 

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

  •   Reports to CivicAction Project Director

  •   Forms a core member of the Escalator team.

  •   Liaises with youth, community partners, and leaders in business, government, and non-profit sectors. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Project Officer will be responsible for the following activities and deliverables:

Program Design

Consult and collaborate with CivicAction staff, volunteers, and key stakeholders to design program strategy and activities, develop outcomes and metrics, and drive implementation

Project coordination

  •   Oversee aspects of projects from development to implementation

  •   Manage partnerships with organizations and individuals

  •   Coordinate activities of volunteer working groups and provide support, when required

  •   Prepare briefings, meeting materials, and presentations, as required

  •   Document project activities

  •   Maintain confidential contact management system and email lists

  •   Maintain necessary electronic and paper filing system for CivicAction

  •   Conduct research and analysis, as required

    Communications

Draft and circulate communications for internal (key stakeholders) and external audiences, including updates, announcements, newsletters, etc.

Engagement

  •   Identify key stakeholders, volunteers, and project partners that will further initiative objectives, and liaise with them on an on-going basis

  •   Identify opportunities to engage key stakeholders, volunteers, and project partners and support them to work toward initiative goals

    Administrative Support

  •   Coordinate all aspects of meetings and conferences; preparing and distributing agendas and other materials; booking meeting rooms; arranging refreshments; and taking and distributing minutes at selected meetings

  •   Identify potential funding sources and draft required funding reports

  •   Respond to requests for information

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS / EXPECTATIONS:
    Experience

  •   2+ years relevant work experience required

  •   A post-secondary school degree or diploma in a related area

  •   Experience working with business and community leaders strongly preferred

  •   Project coordination experience proven ability to get thingsdone

    Skills & Knowledge

  •   Exceptional analytical skills and ability to learn quickly and apply insights to program development, monitoring & evaluation, youth engagement and strategy

  •   Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) and ability to engage with diverse audiences, from business leaders to community partners

  •   Excellent time management skills, with ability to prioritize activities to ensure deadlines are met

  •   Knowledge/experience in fields such as social policy, human resources, workforce development, training and employment services, and/or youth development will be considered assets.

  •   Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, MailChimp, Salesforce CRM, LinkedIn, and/or online survey tools will be considered assets.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    •   Shared work space, meeting rooms and some shared equipment within a downtown Toronto office

    •   Fast-paced, high-performing, and highly collegial working environment.

    •   Occasional evening and weekend work required
