About the Role:
Understanding and using technology is a challenge for many of our member organizations. As the Communications Coordinator, your job is to work with the Communications Lead and the Accounts Management team to keep Canadian nonprofits informed and engaged around our technology donations program and how to use technology effectively. You will be responsible for our external communications, including email campaigns, blogs, social media, webinars and events.
The right person for this role will be tech-savvy, an excellent organizer and a great communicator, as comfortable building relationships online as you are in person, who is excited about how technology can help nonprofits.
You will be expected to:
- Your #1 responsibility is member engagement - creating and curating resources to help nonprofits understand the technology donations program and how to use technology effectively
- Create and send emails via our mass email system, manage email lists and list segmentation
- Write content for product campaigns and ongoing communications, incorporating feedback from the team
- Regularly post updates and engage members through social media, in particular Facebook and Twitter
- Plan events to build nonprofit capacity around technology, including monthly Toronto Net Tuesday events and assist in our quarterly TechSoup Canada webinars
- Produce and curate blog content by writing blog posts and working with guest bloggers
- Keep website content (relevant to area) up to date, including general information and learning content
- Monitor and analyze marketing and communications data, so we can continuously improve
- Execute multi-channel product campaigns related to the technology donations program
- Other duties as required
Essential Skills:
- Excellent written English, both grammar and tone. Communicate complicated ideas in a clear and friendly manner
- Highly organized; attention to detail
- Quick learner, continuously seeking to deepen knowledge and improve how you do your work
- High degree of technical literacy: comfortable using computers (including Windows and Microsoft Office) and learning new programs (we use many cloud tools such as Google Apps, and you will often need to test out new tools)
- Ability to work in a small and highly collaborative team environment
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
Bonus:
- Written and spoken French, at least at a basic level
Interest or have skills in graphic design
Good Experience:
- University degree or college diploma or equivalent experience in communications, marketing or a related area
- Working or volunteering in the nonprofit sector
